Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying the most significant data points such as the popularity of private studios and ballet. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention the percentages for locations, you do not effectively compare the categories beyond simple statements of difference. The description of the bar graph is also slightly imprecise, as you use vague phrases like 'values in between of 250 to 500' rather than estimating the figures more accurately based on the visual data. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and integrate comparisons more fluidly throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs, which provides a logical structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical and sometimes awkward, such as 'Now, turning into the details' or 'While, the bar graph...'. There are also issues with punctuation, particularly the misuse of full stops and commas, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the two charts could be smoother to better reflect the relationship between the data sets.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely heavily on basic terms like 'highest ratio' and 'number of students'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'Australlia', 'comunity', and 'betweeon', which are distracting. Additionally, the word choice is sometimes unnatural, such as 'young youth' (which is redundant) and 'the ballet have most ratio'. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and precise nouns to describe data trends, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the ballet have most ratio'), incorrect article usage, and sentence fragments. For example, 'While, the bar graph tells about...' is grammatically incorrect as a standalone sentence. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many sentences starting with lowercase letters or having misplaced commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
