Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and highlighting key features from both the pie chart and the bar graph. You successfully identified the most popular locations and dance types, and made relevant comparisons between age groups. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with precision; for instance, when mentioning the 11-16 age group in ballet, you described them as 'half in numbers' without explicitly stating the figure (300). Including specific data points for all comparisons would strengthen the analytical quality of your report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'while', 'however', and 'although' to link ideas. However, there are some minor issues with mechanical cohesion; for example, the phrase 'Although, college-based studios are the smallest one, but it contributes' is redundant and grammatically awkward. Additionally, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing is precise will help the flow of your writing appear more natural and less mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'depicts', and 'participents' (noting the spelling error). There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'modern dance is very dominating' or 'smallest one in proportion'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and academic phrasing. For example, instead of 'dominating', consider 'predominant' or 'most prevalent'. You also have a few spelling errors, such as 'Austratia' and 'participents', which should be corrected to ensure professional presentation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'a major fraction of dance students attends' (subject-verb agreement) and 'the college-based studios are the smallest one' (plural/singular mismatch). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage after introductory phrases. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately. Reducing these frequent minor errors will significantly improve the clarity and sophistication of your writing.
