Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of both charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the highest and lowest locations and mention some dance types, the comparisons are often unclear or inaccurate. For example, stating that 'ballet show higher number of students under age 11 then the age group o under 11 for modern dance classes' is confusingly phrased and lacks precision. You have attempted to report data, but the lack of clear, comparative language makes it difficult for the reader to grasp the trends effectively. To improve, focus on grouping data logically and ensuring that the figures cited directly support your comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions like 'Furthermore' and 'however' are used, but they do not always connect ideas logically. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the comparison between the charts becomes muddled. The structure is present, but the progression of information feels mechanical and occasionally repetitive. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly improve the readability of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'portion', 'number', and 'types'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'location prefer', 'compartily', and 'youngsters less prefer location'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the information being presented. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'predominant', 'marginal', or 'account for', and ensure that your word forms are grammatically correct in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the overall quality of the writing. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('ballet show', 'modern have 300 students'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structure ('The private studios share major portions 48% then other three locations'). While some simple sentences are clear, the attempts at more complex structures often result in errors that make the meaning difficult to follow. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that verbs agree with their subjects and that prepositions are used correctly when describing data.
