Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of both charts, but the analysis is inconsistent. While you identify the highest and lowest locations, the description of the bar chart is problematic. You mention '600 students' for ballet and '500 students' for modern dance, but these figures are not supported by the provided data, which appears to show percentages or relative values rather than raw numbers. Additionally, the claim that tap dance remains stable at '400 to 4500' is inaccurate and confusing. To improve, ensure you interpret the data labels correctly and focus on clear, accurate comparisons rather than inventing specific numerical values that are not present in the source material.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. For example, the transition 'Although, the other two areas are quite often used, these are also advantageous' is vague and does not effectively link the ideas. The use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between the data and the conclusion is weak. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, unified focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and sometimes inaccurate. Phrases like 'proportion of various location occupied' and 'types of dance performing' are unnatural and imprecise. You rely on basic descriptors, and some word choices, such as 'acquired by 10%', are inappropriate for describing statistical data. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the lack of precision in word choice and collocation prevents a higher score. To improve, focus on learning standard collocations for describing charts, such as 'account for', 'represent', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('bar chart indicates', 'types of dance performing'), incorrect preposition usage ('in a town of Australia'), and awkward sentence construction ('the highest 48% is utilized by private studios'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable and occasionally distracts the reader. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
