Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the pie chart and the bar graph. You have successfully identified the key trends, such as the dominance of private studios and the age-related preferences for dance styles. However, the report could be improved by providing a more integrated comparison between the two charts. While you have reported the data accurately, the analysis is somewhat descriptive. To reach a higher band, ensure that the 'main features' are highlighted more clearly in the overview, and consider grouping the data more logically to show the relationship between location and type, if applicable, rather than listing them in separate paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You have used some cohesive devices, such as 'in contrast,' 'regarding,' and 'followed by,' which help the flow of information. However, the transition between the two charts is a bit mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal cohesion within the paragraphs could be smoother. For instance, the final paragraph feels slightly disconnected from the previous one. Using a wider range of linking words and ensuring that referencing is consistent throughout would improve the overall coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, including terms like 'illustrates,' 'occupied the largest share,' and 'significantly attracted.' There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'under aged 11' (should be 'under the age of 11') and 'Tab dance' (likely a typo for 'Tap dance'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase,' 'decrease,' and 'preference' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more flexible control of lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'bar graph presents' (missing an article: 'the bar graph'), 'under aged 11' (incorrect phrasing), and 'around 600 showed an interest' (missing a unit or noun). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and spelling issues, such as 'apporximately.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on article usage, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for minor slips to ensure that your complex sentences are consistently accurate.
