Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both charts, but the reporting of data is inconsistent and lacks analytical depth. While you identify the highest and lowest figures, the description of the data is often fragmented. For example, you mention 'modern is the highest figure' without clarifying that this refers to the number of students, and the comparison between the two charts is not clearly established. To improve, ensure you provide a clear overview that synthesizes the main trends rather than just listing data points. The lack of precise data reporting for some categories and the reliance on simple lists hinder the development of a clear, cohesive summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often mechanical, such as 'Another chart information about' or 'According to pie chart'. These transitions do not effectively link ideas or guide the reader through the data. Furthermore, the sentences within paragraphs are often disjointed, making the progression of information feel repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, moving from a general overview to specific, well-connected details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use phrases like 'highest figure' and 'lowest value' to describe the data, which makes the writing feel monotonous. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'youth people' instead of 'young people' and 'another side' instead of 'in terms of'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. Expanding your repertoire of reporting verbs and comparative adjectives would significantly improve the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('These both charts illustrates', 'the fist chart give'), missing articles ('the highest figure location'), and awkward sentence structures ('another side types of dance classes by age group illustrates'). The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures, with very few attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation, and try to incorporate more complex sentence forms, such as using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions to combine related ideas.
