When it comes to the dance types, dance students ages 11-16 prefer modern dance while ballet is dance are keen on ballet dances while modern is in demand for the younger ones.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted the most popular location (private studios) and the contrasting preferences between age groups regarding dance styles. However, there are some inaccuracies in your reporting of the data. For instance, you stated that children under 11 prefer ballet, tap, and modern in that order, but the data shows modern dance is actually the least popular for that group. Additionally, the description of the 11-16 age group's preference for modern dance is accurate, but the overall summary could be more precise. Ensure you double-check the figures against the visual data to avoid misinterpretation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct charts. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Regarding', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader through the information. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing. For example, the phrase 'ballet is dance are keen on ballet dances' is confusing and disrupts the flow of the second paragraph. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly, using terms like 'proportion', 'illustrates', 'appealing', and 'opt for'. There are some instances of awkward phrasing or word choice, such as 'collage-based studios' (likely a typo for 'college-based') and 'ballet is dance are keen on ballet dances', which is repetitive and grammatically incoherent. While you attempt to use more precise vocabulary, these errors occasionally detract from the professional tone of the report. Focusing on accurate collocations and avoiding unnecessary repetition will help you reach a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'ballet is dance are keen on ballet dances' is a fragmented and confusing sentence. You also have issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'children under 11 prefers' (should be 'prefer'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Proofreading for basic agreement and sentence structure would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
