Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the task but fails to provide a clear summary or a logical overview. While it mentions some data points, the information is often inaccurate or confusingly presented (e.g., 'community halls and other carries 11 to 16 years of age students are 18%'). The response fails to effectively compare the data or highlight the main trends, and it ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the analysis incomplete. The interpretation of the charts is inconsistent, and the lack of a clear structure makes it difficult for the reader to follow the data trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks a clear paragraph structure, which is essential for a Task 1 report. The flow of information is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often misused (e.g., 'And college based students have are 10%'). There is no clear progression of ideas, and the abrupt ending significantly impacts the overall coherence of the response. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult to distinguish between the different categories of data being described.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic phrasing. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'carries of 48% population' and 'what does graph brief is that'. The student struggles to use precise terminology to describe the data, often resorting to awkward phrasing that impedes clarity. There is little evidence of an attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary appropriate for describing statistical data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often cause confusion. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('private studios carries', 'college based students have are 10%') and incorrect sentence construction. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, error-prone sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and the lack of control over basic syntax makes the writing difficult to read. The incomplete final sentence further highlights the lack of grammatical control.
