The pie chart compares the proportion of location of dance classes in four different places in a town in Australia, whereas the bar chart shows the number of students from two different age group participate in three category of dance classes.

In contrast, only 10% dance classes take place in college-based studios, which is the lowest figure in pie chart.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided relevant comparisons. The overview is clear and highlights the most significant trends, such as the dominance of private studios and the age-related preferences for specific dance styles. You have covered all parts of the task well, including the data for locations and the breakdown by age and dance type. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete precision; for instance, when mentioning '18% dance classes', it would be more accurate to specify that this refers to the combined total of community halls and other locations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the two distinct charts. You have used cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'In contrast', and 'Similarly' to guide the reader through the data. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, 'In terms of pie chart' and 'According to bar chart' are functional but could be integrated more naturally into the sentence structure. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is easy to follow throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. You use terms like 'proportion', 'participate', and 'category' effectively. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'conduct in private studios' (should be 'are conducted') and 'attend more on ballet' (should be 'attend ballet classes'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise academic collocations would elevate the response. The range is sufficient for the task, but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'the proportion of location of dance classes' is awkward, and there are missing articles, such as 'In terms of the pie chart' and 'the bar chart'. Additionally, there are minor errors in verb usage, such as 'dance classes conduct' instead of the passive voice 'are conducted'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will improve your accuracy.
