Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying key trends such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related differences in dance class preferences. However, there are significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you describe the under-11 age group as having '600' in Ballet, whereas the chart indicates 600 is the total for the under-11s across all classes, not just Ballet. Furthermore, the description of the 11-16 age group contains misinterpretations of the bar graph figures. While the main features are selected, the lack of precision in reporting the data prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'furthermore', and 'nevertheless' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Moving further' to transition between paragraphs. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. The overall progression is logical, but the cohesion could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'compares', and 'participating'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and incorrect collocations, such as 'dramatical share', 'substantical figure', and 'tenajor' (spelling error). The phrase 'is also contributes' is also lexically incorrect. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the frequent errors in word formation and collocation limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on using vocabulary that you are confident is accurate in a given context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the college based studios is also contributes'), incorrect verb forms ('is participate', 'are experienced'), and awkward phrasing ('the younger people are significantly attending'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the high frequency of grammatical slips makes the text less fluent. While the meaning is usually clear, the persistent errors in basic grammar and tense usage prevent the response from reaching a higher band.
