The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The pie chart and bar chart illustrate the location of dance classes and the different types of dance classes for young people in Australia.
Overall, private studios and school halls were the most commonly used locations for the dance classes, whereas ballet and tap dance classes are popular among young people aged under 11.
In contrast, modern dance classes were popular in the 11-16 age group.
An analysis of the pie chart reveals that private studios are the most commonly used location by young people, at 48%. Similarly, school halls are the second most commonly used area after school, represented at 24%. In contrast, community halls and other locations accounted for 18% of the locations of dance, whereas college-based studies contributed 10% of the locations.
From the bar chart, it is evident that ballet dance classes recorded 600 young people aged under 11, whereas the 11-16 age group accounted for 300 students. In contrast, modern dance classes recorded nearly 510 students and 300 students in the 11-16 age group and under 11 age group, respectively. However, the figure for tap dance classes recorded 450 students and around 420 students in the under-11 and the 11-16 age groups, respectively.
