Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the charts, the analysis is superficial and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. You have not included any specific data points or percentages from the charts, which is essential for a Task 1 response. Furthermore, the comparison between the age groups is incomplete and lacks clarity. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive overview, include specific data to support your observations, and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for full development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'On the other hand', the transitions between sentences are often mechanical and sometimes confusing. The paragraphing is present but does not effectively group related information. The lack of a clear, logical progression makes the report difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'most common location' and 'demonstrate more interest'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'forth one place that utilize for dance' and 'captivated in tap dance'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a more varied range of vocabulary, including synonyms and more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'predominant', 'account for', or 'proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('private studio are', 'School halls are second one that being use'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as the final sentence which is incomplete. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and pluralization, before attempting more complex structures.
