Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address the task but is incomplete. While you identify the main features, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related preferences for dance styles, the final sentence is cut off mid-thought, leaving the analysis of the second chart unfinished. Furthermore, there are inaccuracies in data reporting; for example, you refer to 'adult people' when the prompt specifies 'young people', and the description of the age groups is confusing. To improve, ensure you complete all sentences and accurately interpret the labels provided in the charts. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical errors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical errors. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Likewise', 'however', and 'on the other hand', but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that makes the relationships between ideas unclear. The referencing is sometimes confusing, particularly when discussing the age groups. The abrupt ending of the text significantly impacts the overall coherence, as the final paragraph fails to reach a logical conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'adversely more interested' and 'seen in top list'. You also struggle with terminology, using 'youngster' and 'young children' inconsistently. Some terms are misused, such as 'occupied' when referring to the popularity of a location. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices accurately reflect the data presented in the charts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the location... is illustrates'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence structures. Many sentences are poorly constructed, making the meaning difficult to follow. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
