Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of both charts. You provided a clear overview and supported your points with data from the diagrams. However, the report could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the age groups in the second paragraph. For instance, noting that Tap is the only dance style where participation increases with age would have added depth. Additionally, ensure you report all data accurately; you mentioned 'Modern dancer' (a person) instead of 'Modern dance' (the category). Overall, you covered the requirements well, but a more analytical approach to the data trends would elevate the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized into an introduction, a paragraph for the pie chart, and a paragraph for the bar chart. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Next', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'The former' and 'The latter' in the introduction, which are slightly awkward in this context. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the information flows in a way that is easy to follow, though the connection between sentences could be smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'depicts', 'inclined towards', and 'moderately chosen'. However, there are several spelling errors ('almosrt', 'choosen') and word choice inaccuracies, such as 'Modern dancer' instead of 'Modern dance' and 'strength' to describe the number of students. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise terminology for data reporting and proofread carefully to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the the' (repetition), 'as less as 300' (incorrect comparative structure), and 'by the both age groups' (incorrect article usage). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, work on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and comparative phrases. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
