Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task and provides a clear overview. You successfully identified the main trends, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related preferences for dance styles. However, the analysis is slightly hindered by some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you mention 'nearly 18%' for community halls, whereas the chart shows 17%. Additionally, the description of the dance types could be more precise; you state that Tap is 'nearly 420' for both age groups, but the chart indicates 420 for under 11s and 420 for 11-16s, which is exactly the same. Improving the precision of your data interpretation will help you reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'In contrast', and 'On the other hand', to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical issues, such as the phrasing 'accounted of 48% people follow by school halls'. The use of referencing could be more sophisticated to improve the transition between sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the location data from the dance type data, which helps the reader navigate the information effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enrolled', 'contribute', and 'significant amount'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'studious' instead of 'studios' and '11-16 old children' instead of '11-16-year-old children'. There is also a slight repetition of basic structures. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary to describe trends and proportions, such as 'predominant', 'marginal', or 'a substantial proportion'. The current range is sufficient to convey the main points clearly despite these minor errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'illustrate on the location' (should be 'illustrate the location'), '11-16 old children keen to learn' (missing verb 'are'), and 'there are three major dance forms are taught' (incorrect passive construction). While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
