Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, including the locations and the breakdown of dance classes by age group. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the percentages for locations, the description of the dance classes lacks a clear comparative summary. For instance, you list the figures for each age group but do not explicitly compare the trends (e.g., noting that modern dance is more popular with older adolescents, while ballet is preferred by those under 11). To reach a higher band, ensure that you synthesize the data rather than just listing the figures provided in the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on different aspects of the data. However, the use of cohesive devices is occasionally mechanical or slightly awkward. For example, the transition 'furthermore highest number of them' is grammatically disjointed and lacks a proper subject. Additionally, the phrase 'resulted with a minimal difference' is unclear in this context. While the overall progression is logical, the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the latter', 'the former') is used more effectively to connect ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'individuals', 'adolescents', and 'practicing'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'doing rehearsals' is not the standard collocation; 'attending rehearsals' or 'participating in rehearsals' would be more natural. Similarly, '600 are there in ballet' is quite informal and lacks precision. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise reporting verbs to describe the data, rather than relying on simple verbs like 'are' or 'showing'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occasionally hinder the flow, such as 'most of the young people are doing rehearsals in private studio' (missing an article 'a' or 'the') and 'The number students' (missing 'of'). Additionally, 'Adolescents between 11 to 16 years resulted with a minimal difference' is grammatically confusing and does not accurately convey the intended meaning. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
