Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts, such as the dominance of private studios and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the response is incomplete as it fails to report the data for the 11-16 age group regarding modern dance, which is a key feature of the second chart. While you provide some specific figures, the comparison between the two age groups could be more analytical rather than just listing numbers. To improve, ensure you cover all data categories provided in the prompt and focus on highlighting the most significant differences and trends rather than describing every single data point individually.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'In addition', 'Lastly', and 'Moving towards further details' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'college-based studios stood at the least number of percentage'. The flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking words to connect ideas more naturally. Overall, the structure is clear, but the cohesion lacks the flexibility required for a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the main points, using terms like 'proportion', 'categories', and 'illustrate'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'accounted the largest proportion' (should be 'accounted for') and 'stood at the least number of percentage' (which is redundant). You also use 'depicted' incorrectly in the context of percentages. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns related to data reporting will also help.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'Below 11 age children' (should be 'Children under 11') and 'student who below 11' (missing verb 'were'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'are joined tap dance classes'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring grammatical precision is essential for improvement.
