Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response effectively addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview of the main features and successfully integrated data from both the pie chart and the table. The comparison between the two age groups is well-handled, and the key trends are identified accurately. For instance, you correctly highlight that private studios are the most popular location and contrast the preferences of the two age groups regarding dance styles. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete precision; for example, '300 numbers of under 11 students' is slightly awkward phrasing. Overall, the report is well-structured and covers the requirements of the prompt thoroughly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, and you use cohesive devices such as 'Regarding the pie chart', 'Turning to the table chart', and 'Conversely' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two distinct data sets. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. However, the information is presented in a coherent manner throughout, and referencing is clear, making the report easy to read and understand.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'dominated', 'accounted for', and 'reported'. You successfully incorporate topic-specific language related to data description. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'location use' instead of 'locations used' and '300 numbers of' instead of 'a total of 300'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your range to include more precise descriptive adjectives or varied reporting verbs would enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You show good control over basic grammar, and your meaning is consistently clear. There are some minor grammatical errors, such as 'the percentage of four different location use' (should be 'locations used') and 'student between 11 and 16' (should be 'students'). Additionally, 'that attends' should be 'that attend' to agree with the plural noun. Despite these occasional slips, the majority of your sentences are error-free, and the punctuation is generally accurate. The grammatical control is sufficient to convey the information without difficulty.
