Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the highest and lowest locations and the trends in dance types. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the bar chart lacks precision; stating that modern dance students are 'above than 500' is vague, and the comparison between the categories could be more effectively integrated. While the main features are highlighted, the report lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the data, and the interpretation of the figures is occasionally imprecise. To reach a higher band, you should focus on grouping data more logically and ensuring that all numerical comparisons are accurate and clearly stated.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'On moving to the rest of the information' and 'On analysing, the pie chart'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly between the overview and the body paragraphs. While there is a basic attempt to use linking words like 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover', they are used repetitively and do not always create a smooth flow between sentences. Improving the variety and naturalness of your transition phrases will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'highest number of individuals' and 'percentage of joining'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'blend chart' (likely meaning 'combined' or 'two charts') and 'are attend' instead of 'are attending'. The range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or more sophisticated lexical items. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'account for', or 'the majority'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'young peoples' (should be 'young people'), 'are attend' (should be 'are attending'), and 'above than 500' (should be 'over 500'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will help improve your accuracy.
