Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task. You have provided a clear overview of the main trends in both charts and selected relevant data points to support your descriptions. You effectively compared the locations and the preferences between the two age groups. The information is accurate and well-selected, covering the key features such as the dominance of private studios and the contrasting preferences for ballet and modern dance. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data comparisons are precise; for instance, when mentioning the 11-16 age group, ensure the data interpretation is fully aligned with the visual evidence provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You have used cohesive devices such as 'Moreover,' 'In terms of,' 'In contrast,' and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader through the information. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two different charts. The progression of ideas is clear throughout the text. To improve further, ensure that referencing is always precise; for example, 'the most popular one' could be more clearly linked to the specific dance type mentioned in the previous clause to avoid any ambiguity.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision. Phrases like 'delineates the proportion,' 'lowest segment,' and 'less likely appeal' show a good command of language. There are some minor issues with collocation, such as 'modern dance type is mostly preferred by 11-16 years old people,' which could be phrased more naturally. However, the vocabulary is generally appropriate for an academic report and does not impede communication. Using a slightly wider variety of synonyms for 'students' or 'participants' would further enhance the lexical quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most sentences are error-free, and your control of grammar is generally strong. There are minor slips, such as 'types of dance classes are currently being attended' (which should be 'types of dance classes that are currently...') and '11-16 age group' (which requires a preposition or article). These errors are infrequent and do not cause any difficulty for the reader. To aim for a higher band, try to incorporate more varied complex structures, such as passive voice constructions or relative clauses, with greater consistency.
