Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You successfully highlight the most popular location (private studios) and the age-related trends in dance types. However, the analysis could be improved by providing more precise comparisons. For instance, while you mention the numbers for ballet and modern dance, you could more explicitly contrast the total popularity of these styles across both age groups. The overview is clear, but ensure that all data points are accurately transcribed; for example, ensure the distinction between the age groups is consistently clear throughout the report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Meanwhile' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, and there are minor issues with punctuation and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in 'Towards, types of dancing'. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would elevate the score. The paragraphing is appropriate and helps the reader follow the progression of information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'recorded', 'shares', and 'preferable'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'collage-based studios' (likely meant 'college-based') and 'recoded as least preferable choice'. Additionally, 'the first choice of location of dance classes' is slightly wordy. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that spelling is accurate throughout the text. The current vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'which roughly the half of total' (missing 'is'), 'locations the private studios acquired' (awkward syntax), and 'both aged group' (should be 'age groups'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. While these errors do not prevent understanding, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent pluralization will help improve your accuracy.
