Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both the pie and bar charts. You successfully highlight the most significant data points, such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related trends in dance styles. However, the overview is slightly disjointed and lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the main trends. While you mention the highest percentage for locations, the comparison of dance types could be more precise. To improve, ensure your overview clearly synthesises the data rather than just listing details, and double-check the accuracy of your data reporting, as some figures could be presented more clearly to reflect the visual information provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between the charts and the text is slightly abrupt. Improving the use of cohesive devices to create smoother transitions between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'categories', and 'significant number'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'collage-base studio' (likely meant 'college-based') and 'as compare in' (should be 'compared to'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for data description and ensure that your spelling and word forms are accurate throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The given charts illustrates', 'the highest category are') and awkward phrasing ('their is under 11'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses and commas. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and refining your sentence construction will significantly improve your accuracy.
