Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of both charts, identifying the key trends such as the popularity of private studios and the age-related preferences for dance styles. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that private studios dominate at 48%, you could have provided a more insightful comparison by contrasting this with the significantly lower figures for college-based studios. Additionally, the description of the bar chart is slightly underdeveloped; you mention that ballet is popular for younger children and modern for older ones, but you could have quantified these differences more precisely to better support your summary. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and lacks a clear synthesis of the data provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'regarding', and 'on the other hand' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as starting a sentence with 'Whereas the modern dance is preferred by older students' as a fragment. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural progression of information. Paragraphing is present, but the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs could be smoother.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'distribution', 'enrollment', and 'utilized'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'college-based are the least utilized venue' (missing a noun like 'studios') and 'accounts of 18%' (should be 'accounts for'). There is also a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive language. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context. Some spelling and punctuation issues, such as the missing hyphen in 'college based', also detract from the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'the ballet attract the highest number' (subject-verb agreement) and 'the elder student... represent the modern class' (should be 'prefer' or 'are enrolled in'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of parentheses and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
