The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart illustrates the four locations of dance classes, while the bar chart depicts the three types of dance classes in two age groups.

Overall, private studios are by far the most preferred locations, whereas college-based studios are the least. Additionally, ballet is the most common type among under 11 age group and tap is almost equally popular among both age groups with a slight difference. Conversely, modern dance is the most popular category among 11 to 16 age group.

Regarding location, private studies account for the largest share, at 48%. School halls rank second at 24%, compared to 18% in community halls. In contrast, college-based studios record the lowest figures at 10%.

Turning to types, almost 600 students under 11 age cohort prefer ballet compared to approximately 300 students in 11-16 age bracket. Tap is also slight more common among under 11 aged students at roughly 430 students aged 11-16. Lastly, modern dance display the largest number at nearly 520 students aged 11-16, opposed to 300 students under 11.
