Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have successfully identified the main features of both charts, including the distribution of locations and the age-related trends in dance styles. You provided clear comparisons, such as contrasting the popularity of ballet among younger children with modern dance among the older age group. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points are accurately described; for instance, you mentioned 'college based studios' which were not explicitly labeled as such in the prompt, and there are minor inaccuracies in the interpretation of the data figures. To reach a higher band, ensure that your overview clearly synthesizes the most significant trends rather than just listing data points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific data sets. You use some cohesive devices like 'Conversely' and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and some mechanical transitions. For example, the second paragraph starts with 'Overall,' but the subsequent sentences feel like a list of facts rather than a cohesive analysis. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportions,' 'recorded figures,' and 'conversely.' However, there are several spelling errors ('Mahority,' 'partcipants') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'dance classes classes.' The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes, which can detract from the professional tone of an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Private studios made up largest proportions,' 'Ballet dance classes was'), missing articles ('the' before 'largest'), and punctuation errors. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to limit your score. To progress, pay closer attention to pluralization and article usage, and try to vary your sentence structure to include more error-free complex sentences.
