Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of both charts and provided relevant comparisons. You clearly highlighted the most popular locations and contrasted the preferences between the two age groups. However, the report contains some inaccuracies in data interpretation. For instance, you mention 'the least figure which is done classes is about 10%', which is vague and lacks clarity regarding the category. Additionally, the description of the bar chart data is slightly repetitive, and the phrasing 'most efficient by involvement' is an awkward way to describe participation numbers. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with precision and that comparisons are made more fluidly without repeating the same information in different paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In terms of', and 'Meanwhile' to guide the reader. However, the paragraphing is slightly disjointed, and some transitions feel mechanical. For example, the transition between the discussion of locations and dance types could be smoother. Furthermore, there is some repetition of information between the second and third paragraphs, which disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph focuses on a distinct aspect of the data without overlap would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'participants', and 'involved'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'least figure which is done classes' and 'most efficient by involvement', which sound unnatural. You also repeat the phrase 'most popular' several times, which limits the sophistication of your lexical range. To improve, try to use a wider variety of synonyms and collocations related to data reporting, such as 'constitute', 'account for', 'predominant', or 'the lowest percentage'. Focusing on more precise terminology will help you achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the difference among those two age groups' (should be 'between') and 'the least figure which is done classes' (which is grammatically unclear). Additionally, there are minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of comparative structures. Proofreading for small errors in prepositions and word order will also help to increase your accuracy.
