The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie charts illustrate the locations of dance classes and the different types of classes attended by young people in a town in Australia.
The highest proportion of dance classes was held in private studios, at 48%. By comparison, school halls and community halls accounted for 24% and 18%, respectively. College-based studios had the lowest proportion, at just 10%.
The charts also compare two age groups: children under 11 and those aged 11–16. More than 800 students attended modern dance classes, while around 300 of them were under the age of 11. In tap classes, the figures for students under 11 and those aged 11–16 were relatively similar, with both figures being between 400 and 500 students.
Finally, ballet classes showed a significant difference between the two age groups. The number of students under 11 was significantly higher than the number of students aged 11–16.
