The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The pie chart and bar graph provide information about dance classes, specifically where they are held and the number of students of different age groups enrolled in three styles of dance. Overall, private studios are the most popular venue for dance classes. When looking at the types of classes, ballet is the top choice for younger children, while modern dance is the most popular style for teenagers. Private studios host nearly half of all dance classes at 48%. This is twice as much as school halls (after-school classes), which account for 24%. Community halls and other locations host 18% of the classes, while college-based studios are the least common venue at just 10%.Regarding student age groups, children under 11 make up the largest group in both ballet and tap dance. Around 600 students under 11 take ballet, compared to about 300 students aged 11 to 16. Tap dance shows a similar pattern, with over 400 younger children and roughly 300 older students. Modern dance is the only category where teenagers outnumber younger children, with approximately 500 students aged 11 to 16 enrolled compared to about 300 students under 11.
