Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of both charts, but the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you correctly identify the highest and lowest categories, the description of the second chart is confusing. You mention 'Under 11-16 and under 11 age group' but do not clearly contrast the data for these groups. Furthermore, the data reporting is occasionally inaccurate or poorly phrased, such as 'School halls and after-school young people using as a dance classes', which makes it difficult to follow the specific figures. To improve, ensure that comparisons are made more explicitly and that data points are presented with greater clarity and precision.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward. Phrases like 'To begin with' and 'Turning to the next details' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is hampered by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition between the first and second chart is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to determine exactly which data point is being discussed. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms like 'share', 'lowest', and 'highest'. There are also instances of awkward word choice, such as 'using very less this location', which is non-standard. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and descriptive language to report trends and proportions. For example, instead of 'registered the lowest share', you could use 'accounted for the smallest proportion'. Expanding your range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'proportion' will help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'School halls and after-school young people using as a dance classes' and 'because they are using very less this location'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and ensuring that verbs and prepositions are used correctly will help improve your accuracy.
