Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, such as the popularity of private studios and the trends in dance styles. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, the student mentions '600 students' for Ballet, whereas the chart likely displays percentages or smaller raw numbers, leading to a misinterpretation of the data. Furthermore, the comparison between age groups is somewhat mechanical. To reach a higher band, you must ensure that the data points cited accurately reflect the provided visual information and provide a more analytical summary rather than just listing figures.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the flow of ideas is often disjointed due to awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. Transitions between sentences are frequently missing or misused, such as 'In case of Ballet' and 'Like wise Modern students'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the argument. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') would significantly enhance the logical flow of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'rose the highest amount' (instead of 'accounted for the largest proportion') and 'incline to' (instead of 'increased to'). The student relies on basic terminology, and there is little evidence of an attempt to use less common lexical items or precise academic vocabulary. Spelling errors, such as 'an d', also detract from the overall quality. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on accurate collocations related to data description will help improve this score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Ballet have', 'Tap have'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often poorly constructed and contain errors that occasionally impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma usage. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic sentence structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
