The given charts illustrates the information about the location and different types of dance classes young people are attending in a town of Australia.
Overall, the different types of dance classes are attended by age groups ranging from under 11 to 16 year olds. The majority of the classes in the town were held in private studios whereas the least amount of classes where taking place in the college-based studios.
To begin with, the dance classes where held in 4 different location in the town. About 48% of students were attending private studios making it the largest location being used. Next, School halls taking dance classes after school was the second largest location where 24% of students attended the classes. Then 18% of dance classes were held in the Community halls and other facilities and the least used location was the College-based studios which held 10% of classes.
Additionally, the different dance classes comprised of Ballet, Tap and Modern dance teaching students from ages under 11-16. Ballet was most popular for the age group 11-16 where approximately 600 students attended the class, however it was also the least class attended for students under 11 year old where 280 students attended the class. Tap dance class comprised of similar number of students in both age groups, teaching about 400+ students each. Lastly, Modern dance was the most popular for student under 11 which was attended by 510 students but this category was least attended by the age group 11-16.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task well. You have successfully identified the main features of both the location chart and the dance types chart. The comparison between age groups is clear, and you have included relevant data points to support your observations. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data is presented accurately; for instance, you mentioned '400+' for Tap dance, which is a good way to handle approximate figures, but ensure your comparisons are consistently precise. The overview is functional, though it could be more integrated by highlighting the most significant contrast between the two charts rather than just listing the categories.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the two distinct charts. You make good use of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'Thus' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression of ideas within paragraphs flows more naturally. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences could be tightened to improve the overall flow and avoid repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'comprised of', 'perspective', and 'category' appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'least class attended' instead of 'least attended class'. While you successfully communicate the information, the vocabulary is somewhat functional and lacks the more sophisticated, precise collocations that would characterize a higher band. To improve, focus on using more varied descriptors for trends and proportions, and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'The given charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement error), 'where taking place' (should be 'were'), and 'the least class attended' (incorrect comparative structure). These errors are frequent but do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs in passive constructions.
