Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of both the pie chart and the table. You successfully highlighted the most popular locations and dance types, and made relevant comparisons between age groups. However, the analysis is slightly hindered by some inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, you state that school halls contribute 'half of the private studios', which is a misinterpretation of the data provided. Additionally, the description of the table data is somewhat cluttered and could be more clearly structured to highlight the key trends across the age groups. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are accurately transcribed and that comparisons are presented with greater precision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs focusing on the two different charts. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In terms of', and 'On the other side' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel slightly forced. The referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of the final paragraph is a bit repetitive, which impacts the overall progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between data points would enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrates', 'contribute', and 'participating'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'take interest in' instead of 'are interested in' or 'show interest in', and 'smallest share, just at 10%'. There is also a slight repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'predominant', and ensure that your word choices are consistently natural and accurate in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'the under 11 years' (should be 'those under 11 years'), 'above 11 to 16 age group like' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'Only 300 number of learners' (redundant phrasing). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions will help improve the accuracy of your writing.
