The pie chart illustrates the data about the location and the table represents the types of dance classes of different age groups that are currently attending in Australia.

On the other side, approximately 600 students take interest in ballet which is the highest amount that is more common under 11-years age group , while the 11 to 16 age group like modern dance class and almost 510 candidates are taking these classes. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task, providing a clear overview and highlighting key features from both the pie chart and the table. You successfully identified the most popular locations and compared the preferences of the two age groups. However, the analysis of the data could be more precise. For instance, stating that school halls contribute 'half of the private studios' is a misinterpretation of the data, as the chart shows them as separate categories. Additionally, some comparisons, such as the tap dance figures, are slightly confusingly phrased. To reach a higher band, ensure that data points are reported with absolute accuracy and that comparisons are clearly linked to the specific categories provided in the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. There is a clear progression of ideas throughout the response. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall,' 'In terms of,' and 'whereas' to link information. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing in the final paragraph is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the tap dance figures. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices to create smoother transitions between sentences and ensure that the relationship between the data points is explicitly stated to avoid ambiguity for the reader.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'illustrates,' and 'participating.' There are some instances of slightly unnatural phrasing, such as 'take interest in' instead of 'are interested in' or '300 number of students.' While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied collocations and avoid repetitive structures. Focus on using more academic vocabulary to describe trends and data, such as 'account for,' 'constitute,' or 'a significant majority.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the under 11 years' (should be 'children under 11') and '300 number of students' (should be 'a number of 300 students'). There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of plural nouns when discussing age groups and statistics.
