The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The charts provide data on youth in a town in Australia participating in dance classes. The pie chart demonstrates different locations, and the bar graph illustrates the dance class types. Overall, the most preferred location for dance sessions is private studios, and the most popular type of dance is ballet for the under-11 age group, while modern classes prevail in the 11 to 16 age group.
Remaining the most occupied dance location, private studios account for almost half of the total dance practices. Followed by school halls (24%) and community halls and others (18%), while the least used area is college-based studios, at only 10%.
Additionally, the bar graph clearly demonstrates that ballet was widely preferred by children under 11 touching 600 students, while modern dance was the least participated in, with only 300 students. On the other hand, teenagers aged 11 to 16 were the opposite; they took part in modern dance the most, with over 500, and the least in ballet. Tap dancing was moderately chosen by both age groups, under 11 and 11 to 16, with 450 and a little over 400, respectively.
