The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given pie chart illustrates the proportions of locations where young people are currently attending dance classes in a town in Australia, along with the bar chart showing the age group and the type of dance classes taking place.

To commence with, majority of the people are under 11 years old, and ballet dance is the most preferred type of dance they are practicing, followed by tap dance at the second position and modern dance type being the least preferred among people of age under 11. Conversely, Modern dance form is the most favoured among people of age group 11 to 16, with tap dance again at the second number. Ballet is the least preferred form in people of this age group surprisingly.

With regard to geographical locations, most of the dance classes are taking place at private studios, accounting for 48% proportion. College-based studios are accommodating least number of dance classes, showing percentage of 10% only. Community halls and school halls show similar proportions of classes being held at, showing 18% and 24% percentages respectively.

Overall, private studios are the most popular location for dance practice classes whereas college-based studios are the least prevalent.
