The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates data on the locations of dance classes are visiting by young people in a town in Australia while the line graph presents the types of dance classes by different age groups.

Overall, it can be seen that the largest numbers of participants come to private studios for dance practise. In terms of dance style, Ballet dance is mostly attended by youngsters under 11 and Modern dance is common among the students over 11.

Firstly, going to private studios for dance practise is the most common activity among students, comprising 48% of students, whereas the college-based studios has the lowest number of attending participants at 10%. While going to school halls after school records the second largest attendance and the community halls & other comprises 18% of the students.

In addition, attending ballet dancing makes up the largest proportion of students of age less than 11, with almost 600 students, whereas participating in Modern dance is most frequent among younger students between 11-16. Ballet and Modern dancing is the least popular among students between 11-16 and under 11 respectively.
