The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart illustrates the four different locations where dance classes are held in a town in Australia, while the line line graph shows the type of dance classes preferred by different age group in the same town.

Overall, private studios account for the largest proportion of dance classes, while school halls are the second most common location. In terms of dancing types, ballet dance is most preferrable choice for under 11 age group, whereas modern dancing is least popular. For 11-16 aged students tap and modern dance types are the main choices.

To begin with, private studios are the most popular location, accounting for 48% of all classes. School halls are the second most common venue, representing 24% of the total. Meanwhile, community hall and other hold 18%, while collage-based studios are the least popular at just 10%.

Moving on the type of dance classes preferred by different age group, ballet has highest number of students among under 11 age group, with around 600 students. The figure for 11-16 age group is lower, at 300 students. Tap dancing is also popular dancing type attracting 450 student in under 11 aged and 400 students aged 11-16. In contrast, modern dancing is the least popular for under 11 aged group, which is lowest number in participants.
