IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The charts illustrate the location and types of dance classes being attended by young people in an Australian town.

Overall, most classes are being conducted at private studio. Moreover, younger age group attending mostly ballet dance classes while modern dance by elder age group.

The pie chart shows that highest proportion of classes are being carried out at private studios (48%) followed by school halls(24%) and community hall and others (18%). Classes conducted at college-based studios are the least accounted for 10%.

The bar chart presents the data of types of classes by two age groups under eleven and between 11 to 16. The information from the chart shows higest number of younger age group less than 11 attending ballet dance classes with around 600 students. This is followed by tap dance around 450 students and modern dance 300 students of this age agroup.

Contrasting to above data elder age group are mostly attending medern dance classes with 520 students followed by tap dance 420 students and ballet dance 300 students.

The tap dance is almost same in both age groups with little varaition of number.
