The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The following pie-chart and bar graph illustrate different locations where dance classes are being held in a town of Australia while highlighting various types of dances young people are attending to.

Overall, most of the classes are being held in private studios while college-based studios, school halls, community halls and other places hold a small amount of percentage in the pie-chart. Furthermore, ballet dance is the most popular dance among childrens under 11 while students between 11 to 16 seems to prefer modern dance more .

Looking at the graphs in more detail, private studio coverts almost half(48%) of the total pie-chart. Similarly, almost a quater(24%) of dance classes are being held at school halls while almost one-fifth(18%) is taken by community halls and other places. Finally, college based studio takes the rest of the classes which is one-tenth of the pie-chart.

Furthermore, ballet dance classes are most preffered by childrens under 11 as 600 pupils learn it while only 300 students are present between the age of 11 to 16. On the other hand, children between 11 to 16 prefer the modern dance more than the ballet dance and the tap dance as it contains 520 students but children under 11 are only 300 in numbers. The tap dance class contains almost same amount of pupils of two age groups which are 450 and 420 in numbers.
