IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart illustrates the location of dance classes attending by young audiencs in an Australian town, whereas the bar chart represents the data about the attendance of participants in these classes by type.

Overall, it is evident that, private studios is the most popular location of classes, while the college-based studios is the least one. In addition, the under 11 age group most engage in ballet dance, while most of the teens aged from 11-16 learn modern dance.

To begin with, nearly half of the classes being held in private studios accounting for 48%, followed by the school halls where student attend after school that is 24%. In contrast, only 18% classes are held in community halls and other venues. College based studios witnessed the least figures of attending dance classes, at around 10%.

On the other hand, ballet classes is the most prefer by the children under 11, as 600 students learn this dance. This is followed by tap dancing, with 450 individuals. Modern dance has the lowest number of participants, around 300 students. The noticeable striking event is that, in modern dance is accounted the highest percentage of adults aged from 11-16, that is 515.
