The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given pie chart illustrates different locations of dance classes attended by young individuals in a town in Australia. The various types of location are divided into several subgroups which comprises of private studios, college-based studios, school halls, community halls and others. Whereas, the given bar graph showcases the number of students enrolled in three different dance forms ( ballet, tap and modern) who are under 11 years and between 11-16 years of age.

Overall, the private studios remain at 48% among all locations which covers a majority of proportion for dance classes. School halls (usually after school hours) takes second position to be used as dance classes. While community halls comprise of 18% as dance classes, college-based studios remains the least favourable option for dance classes in Australia.

Among the given three dance forms, ballet proves to be the most common dance form for children under 11 years. On the contrary, for the age groups between 11 to 16 years, it proves to be least favourable. Surprisingly, the number of students preferring ballet dropped drastically to the half. Additionally, the number of students enrolled in the tap dance are negligibly affected by the age. While the modern dance classes comprises of only 300 students who are under 11 years, the number of students crosses to 500 for age groups between 11-16 years.
