The charts give information about the location and types of dance classes that young people are attending in a town in Australia.
Overall, private studios are the most popular place for dance classes. In terms of dance types, ballet is more popular among children under 11, while modern dance is more popular among students aged 11 to 16.
Looking at the first chart, 48% of dance classes are held in private studios. School halls are the second most common location, with 24%. Community halls and other places account for 18%, while only 10% of classes are held in college-based studios.
The second chart shows the types of dance classes by age group. Among children under 11, ballet is the most popular, with about 600 students. Tap is also popular, with around 450 students, while modern dance has about 300 students. However, the pattern is different for the 11–16 age group. Around 520 students attend modern dance, making it the most popular type. About 420 students choose tap, while ballet has the lowest number, at around 300 students.
