The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The two charts illustrate the location and types of dance classes where young individuals are currently attending in a town in Australia. Overall, it is evident that private studios accounted for the largest share along with the school halls, whereas college-based studios has the lowest figure. In addition, children under age 11 and between 11 to 16 mostly attend ballet and modern dance classes, respectively. Looking first at the pie chart, private studios has the highest proportions of dance classes, at 48%, which is nearly half of the total. Likewise, school halls ( after-school) consists about 24%, which is exactly half the proportion of private studios. Furthermore, the percentage for community halls and other, and college-based studios stood at 18% and 10%, respectively. These two together makes around 28%. Turning to the table, around 600 students under age 11 goes to ballet dance classes. Similarly, about 450 students attend tap classes. However, only 300 students attend modern dance classes. Furthermore, among students of age 11-16, modern dance classes has the highest figure, at just above 500 students. Whereas, tap dance classes and ballet dance classes has around 420 students and 300 students, respectively.
