The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The pie chart illustrates the location, while the bar chart presents the type of different dance classes younger people in an Australian town are participating in.

Overall, it is evident that the private studios have a significant number of participants, while the college-based studios have fewer people. Ballet dance is dominant among the children under 11 years, and modern dance has attracted the attention of individuals aged between 11 and 16 years.

Students prefer dancing the most in private studios, as it contributed nearly half compared to the other dance schools in the town. School hall was the second most crowded place for dance, with 24% in total. Community halls and college-based studios were less common locations, contributing 18% and 10%, respectively.

Ballet dance had around 600 students under 11 years old and around 300 under 11 and 16 years old. Modern dance was popular among teenagers, with more than 500 students, but it was least popular with nearly 300 students under 11 years of age. Tap dance had just above 400 students in both age groups.
