The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
The charts illustrate different locations of dance classes and the number of students, divided into two age groups, who attend three types of dance classes in an Australian town.
Overall, in terms of locations, private studios are by far the most popular venue for students to attend dance classes and account for the largest proportion, whereas college-based studios account for the smallest proportion. Regarding the dance styles, ballet dance is the most popular among children under 11, while the majority of older students attend modern dance.
Private studios are considered by almost half of students and make up the highest proportion, while college-based studios are the least popular place for the classes and account for 10% only. Whereas, school halls represent 24% and community halls and other locations constitute of 18%.
In terms of the types, ballet dance is the most popular among young children aged under 11 and accounts for approximately 600 students, whereas older students in comparision make up around only 300 in the same dance type. In contrast, older children attend modern dance more and account for 530, while only 300 young children aged under 11 attend the same dance. Finally, similar numbers of students of both age groups participate in tap dance. However, the figure for younger children is slightly higher than the older students, which are approximately 450 and 430, respectively.
