The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart provide data on the location of dance classes, while the bar chart illustrates the types of dance classes attended by different age group.
Overall, private studios were the most common location for dance practice, while collage based studios accounted for the smallest proportion. In terms of dance types, ballet was most popular among the children under 11, modern was most polular among the chidren under 11–16.
Looking first at locations of the dance classes, private studios accounted the largest proportion, at 48. This is followed by schools halls, which represented 24% of the total. Community halls and other locations constituted for 18%, while collage based studios had the smallest share, at just 10%.
Turning to the types of dance classes, among children under 11, ballet was most popular choice with approximately 600 students, followed by Tap students around 450 and Modern at about 300 students. In contrast, Modern was most popular choice chidren under the age of 11–16 with just over 500 students. Tap attracted approximately 420 students, while ballet was least popular choice, at around 300 students.
