The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The charts provide the details on the different location and three types of dance sessions that young individuals are currently attending in a town of Australia.

Overall, private studios by far accounted for the largest proportion, whereas college-based studios represented the smalles group. Regarding types of dance classes, under age 11, ballet has highest number of learners. However, students between 11-16 were interested in modern dance.

First looking at the location of dance classes,the proportion of private studios was as high as that of school halls, accounted for 48% and 24% respectively. Thereafter, community halls and other stood at 18%. In contrast, college-based studios represented lowest proportion at 10%.

Turning to the dance classes by group of age, ballet recorded the high proportion of under 11 students at 600. However, group of students between 11-16 participated in ballet to around 300. In tap dance, approximately 460 students under 11 attended tap dance sessions, whereas nearly 410 students aged between 11-16 took classes of tap dane. Regarding modern dance, only 300 students participated under age of 11. Age group of 11-16, meanwhile, approximately 510 students took classes in modern dance.
