The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The charts illustrate data on the location and various kinds of dance classes, including community halls and private studios for the younger generation in Australia.

Overall, private studios accounted for the largest proportion according to the location of dance classes, whereas community halls had the lowest proportion. In addition, modern kinds of dance classes had the highest number of teenage participants.

The private studios accounted for the largest proportion, 48%, among the remaining three categories, whereas school halls had the second-highest proportion, 24%. Community halls were at 18%, and college-based studios had the lowest proportion, 10%.

Ballet dance classes recorded the highest number of students under 11, at 600, whereas the 11-16 age group had 300 participants. In modern dance classes, the 11-16 age group had the highest number of participants, at around 510, and the under-11 age group at around 300. Tap dance classes: the under-11 age group had around 450 participants, and the 11-16 age group had around 410 participants. Overall, the under-11 age group had the highest number of participants in ballet dance class, and the 11-16 age group had the highest number of participants in modern dance class.
