The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie chart and the bar graph below provide information on the location and the different types of dance classes that young individuals are taking part in, in an Australian city.

Overall, private studios top the list while college-based studios are the least preferred location of dance classes, with community halls and school halls contributing almost equal amounts in the location preference. In addition, ballet is the most liked dance form in young children, while modern dance is popular in adolescents.

Firstly, private studios are the most chosen location by individuals with 48% of the share, whereas college-based studios are generally discarded by students as a location since they contribute only 10%. Community halls and school halls contribute a significant amounts in total with 18% and 24% respectively.

Secondly, the types of dance forms are important to children as they want to learn what they really like. Ballet is significantly preferred by individuals under the age of 11 with 600 of them, whereas only 50% of the children in the age group 11 to 16 like Ballet. Tap as a dance class is equally liked by both the age groups with the under-11 age group slightly inclined towards it more than the 11-16 age group. Modern dance class is opted more by older individuals with slightly greater than 500 in number and the younger children preferring it less at 300 in number.
