The charts below give information on the location and types of dance classes young people in a town in Australia are currently attending.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The pie chart and bar graph provide statistics about different dance classes in an Australian town. Mainly, the information is provided about the location of dance classes and the types of dances which are taught to students.
The pie chart shows that the majority of dance classes are operated by private studios. Private studios operate 48% of total classes. Approximately a quarter of classes are provided by schools in their halls after study hours. One in every ten dance classes can be found in colleges. 18% of dance classes are managed at community halls and other places.
The bar graph shows the increasing and decreasing trend of the different dance types as we move across both age groups. Ballet is the most popular among the students under 11, while it is the least popular in the age group of 11-16. Vice versa is true for the modern dance. The numbers of enrolled students in different types of dance classes for the age group below 11 are: 600 in ballet, 450 in tap and 300 in modern. The same numbers for the age group aged 11-16 are: 300 in ballet, 420 in tap and 520 in modern.
